I'd be damned if i'm not having fun with this whole blogging thing, it gives more of a purpose to my love of music(outside of my guitar playing). Before when I mentioned an album I listened to in conversation I would say something along the lines of it's good, or it's awesome, rudimentary stuff. Now I can truly call out many of it's details. Not only have I truly analyzed the music I listen to, but even review structures, but most importantly, others'. This is essentially my structure
Para 1: Introduction to the band's history and style
Para 2-3: Possible responses to style, overall review of the album
Para3/4: Conclusion (in general)
When I go on allmusic.com (my favorite site in the history of ever, second to facebook) I usually see a one paragraph review that is simply perfect in style and gives good enough details. Because of the word count I feel I have a need to write with an average essay structure. Compare this to my recent anniversary.

I wish I could use this style for this blog, except for the fact I must use a minimum of 300 words, which near forces me to use the style I use. This is something I want to change. Here is how I wish to structure of my reviews.
Para 1: BRIEF history with maybe a one sentence about more recent or necessary information about the band and another for the album (do not quote me on this), then dive into the review
Para 2: Most of the detail for the review. The conclusion paragraph is gone and will be replaced with a final sentence, and possibly an extra comment.
This is infinitely more effective, will bore less people attempting to read the entire thing, and unlike IGN's inhuman 2 page music reviews. This does not mean I will cut out the fluff and excess comments, it means the entire thing will be more direct. Comments on the band and possible humor are always in reviews and I feel I can occasionally do this. Furthermore, I will not only improve my reviews, I will be becoming even more scary into music than I already am. My first review on the Muse album had me writing with a passion for how I felt about the album, and the same with how emotionally attached to the Battle of Los Angeles I am, what if I could do the same with every review I will ever do? If I were to have a deeper passion for every genre I am interested in, I will be an infinitely better writer. That is a challenge I come across, probably spending every penny I come across on Jazz and R&B albums, and most likely a Rhapsody account.
I certainly don't want the 300 word limit thing to get in the way of your experimentation. You want to do shorter ones? Let know ahead of time to look for two shorter reviews per week instead of one. (This may not interest you at all, but you could even do two "mini-reviews" and a COMPARISON between two albums in a single post. Just a thought.)
Your clear sense of direction and purpose is really outstanding. Whatever you're doing, it's working. I don't even need to tell you to keep it up.
